game was just a friendly for the H4L 11 a-side team who were yet to play
Colchester Deaf. Mark Morris from Disability 4 Sport joined in on H4L's side,
and Damian Harvey was playing in goal as Kyle Thompson was unable to play. H4L
beat Disability 4 Sport 14-1 in the previous 11 a-side game with Luke Thomas
scoring a double hat trick, but Luke has now retired from football. Despite
creating lots of chances H4L ended up losing, the main problem being the
defence going too far forward.
started off brightly, and it didn't take very long for Dave to open the
scoring, with Freddy doubling the lead soon after. After going 2-0 down,
Colchester pulled one back, the shot deflected in off the crossbar. Not long
after that Colchester equalised, with Jack unluckily turning the ball into his
own net. Having drawn level, Colchester then took the lead but towards the end
of the first half H4L won a penalty for handball, which Greg converted to bring
the scores level again.
going from 2-0 up to 3-2 down and only managing to equalise from a spot-kick,
H4L were determined to retake the lead. They tried very hard, finding quite a
lot of chances but unable to find the back of the net. In the end Colchester
retook the lead, when a mistake by Jack prevented Damian from getting a hold on
the ball. Colchester then doubled the lead from a free kick. The wall jumped
but the ball still managed to clip the top of Jack's head. Colchester then took
their goal tally to double H4L's goal tally, with a shot into the top right
giving Damian no chance. 6-3 down, Freddy and Damian then swapped positions.
For a goal scorer, Freddy played very well as a keeper and only let one in.
