7 Jan 2010 - New Year Celebration Begins With Equality Award
“More players, more teams and greater competition” are just three of the targets Essex County Football Association Inclusion Development Officer, John Manning, plans to accomplish in 2010 as the County Office in Chelmsford springs into the New Year on the back of news that the Foundation level of the much sought-after Equality Standard award has been secured.
With the next date for the Soccability League coming up and a Regional League meeting scheduled on 24th February, the next couple of months will be hectic but enjoyable according to Manning: “Now 2010 promises to be a very exciting year because growing demand means we will be running a female 3v3 competition as part of our Soccability event on 30th January. This will be open to any female aged 16 and over and will run alongside the open-age male competition starting at 12:30pm.
Colchester United and the Healthy 4 Life project continue to fly the flag for Essex in the Regional League, with the latter aiming to strengthen their position at the top of the table. This year we plan to achieve greater numbers of players from under-represented communities in football, leading to more inclusive teams and greater, more accessible competitions.”
