Continence Product Provision (Pads)

This service provides assessment, conservative (non-surgical) treatment and review for continence problems requiring containment with continence products i.e. supplying pads Community Nurses manage initial assessment for patients they visit, continence team then review. The specialist Learning Disability continence nurse provides a service for patients with moderate and severe Learning Disability. Products are supplied and distributed by Ontex to patient homes and residential homes via an order system operated by Anglian Community Enterprise. Deliveries are on 8 or 12 weekly cycles activated by a call back system – patients or carers are asked to give us a ring about 10 days before next delivery is needed so that we can make sure the request is actioned in good time. Products are provided for a proven need established at an assessment. Only body-worn products are supplied, up to 4 products per 24 hours except in exceptional circumstances.


Who is your service provided for?
All adults living in North East Essex, or served by a GP in NE Essex.


When is the service provided?  
9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.


How do you access the service?  

Referrals from GPs, other health and social care professionals, carers or just ring and refer yourself.
