Tier 2 Musculoskeletal

 

The Tier 2 musculoskeletal service provides an evidence based treatment and advice service for patients with musculoskeletal problems. Typical problems treated include:

  • Frozen shoulder/shoulder injuries
  • Knee pain/injuries
  • Ankle sprain
  • Muscle tear
  • Tennis elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • And more complex sport pain syndromes.

 

Musculoskeletal disorders preferably less than 3 months duration but no more than 6 months duration.

  • Neck, headache and post whiplash syndrome.
  • Back pain, of short duration.
  • Spinal problems.
  • Sports type injuries and problems that are not responding to RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation).
  • Failed rehabilitation for strains, tennis elbows etc.

 

The service offers appropriate Musculoskeletal clinical services in several locations. The interventions aim to be responsive to the needs of the patients and provide a clear concise individual education programme based on patient needs. The aim is to maximise independence and to reduce patients’ symptoms and pain.   Treatments will include assessment, advice, manual therapy, manipulation, acupuncture, joint and muscle injections

Who is your service provided for?
The service is provided for adults who are registered with a GP in North East Essex.

How do you access the service?

Access to the service is by referral from the patient’s own GP.
